Get involved and help us succeed. LFTP is always looking for dedicated volunteers to help in the following areas:
Planning Committee
All LFTP business is conducted within our planning committee. The Planning Committee consists of volunteers who meet bi-weekly in the autumn and winter months, and as needed in spring and summer. New members are encouraged to partner with more experienced members. Plant knowledge is a plus, but not required. Within the Planning Committee, the following sub-committees focus on a variety tasks:
Community Orchards
Community Orchard Committee evaluates and coordinates with potential planting partners, working with community-based groups to plan and plant orchards, providing long-term follow up for orchard care.
Outreach
Outreach Committee organizes events, helps with tabling, website and outreach materials.
Fundraising
Do you know how to write grants or raise funds? LFTP welcomes experienced fundraisers to help sustain and expand our projects.
Propagation
For the action oriented volunteer the propagation group is a great way to get involved. The propagation group propagates fruiting plants through the processes of layer-bedding of root-stocks, tree grafting, planting from seed and rooting hard and soft wood cuttings. We collect scion of different varieties and perform upkeep of nursery stock for use in LFTP projects.
Public Policy
The Policy Committee works to encourage public policies that support the planting of fruit trees.
