The Lawrence Fruit Tree Project accomplishes it goals in the following ways:
- Helping community partners establish and maintain community orchards by providing necessary technical knowledge
- Maintaining a database of fruiting trees on public and private land
- Providing useful resources to local residents for planting and caring for fruit trees. This is mainly accomplished through our website resources but also shared at meetings, etc.
- Maintaining a website
- Offering workshops (tree variety selection, site selection, grafting, harvesting, fruit storage, agroforestry, permaculture, etc.)
- Developing proposals to plant fruiting trees in appropriate places on public land
- Organizing volunteers to maintain specific projects
- Developing a scion exchange
- Propagating fruit trees to make desirable cultivars available for LFTP projects
