The Lawrence Fruit Tree Project accomplishes it goals in the following ways:

  • Helping community partners establish and maintain community orchards by providing necessary technical knowledge
  • Maintaining a database of fruiting trees on public and private land
  • Providing useful resources to local residents for planting and caring for fruit trees.  This is mainly accomplished through our website resources but also shared at meetings, etc.
  • Maintaining a website
  • Offering workshops (tree variety selection, site selection, grafting, harvesting, fruit storage, agroforestry, permaculture, etc.)
  • Developing proposals to plant fruiting trees in appropriate places on public land
  • Organizing volunteers to maintain specific projects
  • Developing a scion exchange
  • Propagating fruit trees to make desirable cultivars available for LFTP projects
